Humility and gratitude are probably the 2 most over looked attributes! Today we sat in a lesson with a family that has nothing except a kitchen table . The kids all share one room, they don't own a car, and everyone works except for the 11 year old daughter. They all have dreams of a career they want to have, but none of them speak English,
They are all so grateful and love school but none of them even speak any English and they attend an English school
They are the kindest people I have ever met and they have nothing. After we taught then they said they had baked a treat for us .... they made us the most delicious cheese cake ever
Yet their cupboards are empty
And they were the ones giving us a treat ...
Needless to say my humility got bumped down a few notches
Like earlier that day we had been in a drake store in the mall where shirts were 200 bucks
And that didn't bring me nearly the joy as sitting in a broken chair given a cheese cake from a 15 year old boy
A message to "the parents and their favorite daughter lives on"
